Full-Service Retainers
Integrated support for the whole business
Our full-service retainers provide ongoing, multi-domain support for founders who want clarity, structure, and partnership.
Whether you need light-touch strategic guidance, collaborative management support, or a deeply embedded operational partner, Good Apple offers retainers at three engagement levels to match your stage and pace of growth.
What’s in every retainer?
-
Regular touchpoints give you clarity, accountability, and momentum. These sessions keep priorities aligned, unblock decisions, and ensure you always know what matters most right now. They’re structured enough to move work forward, but flexible enough to adapt to real-time needs and shifting business pressures.
-
We look at your business holistically across five domains—Direction and Decisions, Money and Metrics, People and Productivity, Reputation and Reach, and Offering and Operations. This framework helps us identify what’s working, what’s stuck, and where the biggest opportunities lie, so your strategy and actions stay aligned across the whole organization.
-
Every engagement includes a simple, actionable 90-day plan focused on the highest-impact priorities. Each quarter, we review progress, recalibrate goals, and reset your roadmap so you stay focused, responsive, and grounded in the realities of the business. It’s structure that keeps you moving, not overwhelmed.
-
We translate your numbers into meaningful insights you can actually use. That includes clean reporting, aligned budgets, and forward-looking forecasts that help you plan, invest, and make confident decisions. Financial clarity becomes a foundation—not an afterthought—so growth feels intentional instead of reactive.
-
We refine the behind-the-scenes structure that keeps your business running smoothly. That means better workflows, simpler systems, cleaner processes, and fewer bottlenecks. The goal is to reduce friction, increase consistency, and make everyday operations feel lighter for both you and your team.
-
We help you strengthen your role as a leader and build clarity around how your team works. This includes feedback structures, role definition, communication rhythms, and support for hiring or team development. The outcome is a more aligned, empowered team with fewer gaps and less confusion.
-
We help keep initiatives organized, moving, and delivered. That includes breaking work into clear steps, managing timelines, tracking progress, and addressing blockers early. You stay out of the weeds while still having full visibility into what’s happening and what’s next.
-
You don’t have to make hard calls alone. We bring outside perspective, pattern recognition, and practical experience to help you assess tradeoffs, weigh risks, and choose a path forward with confidence. You get clarity, not noise, so decisions feel grounded—not rushed or reactive.
-
Every tier includes access to Good Apple’s proven tools—templates, guides, checklists, workflows, and planning resources. These save time, create consistency, and help you run your business with more ease. You get practical structure without reinventing anything.
-
You gain a steady partner who brings clarity, order, and follow-through. We organize the work, maintain momentum, and help you stay focused on what matters most. The experience feels grounded and supportive, not chaotic—because your business deserves a sense of calm, not constant urgency.
We offer three tiers of engagement for retainer clients, based on their business needs and maturity.

Retainers IRL
Maple & Main Market is the kind of neighborhood convenience store everyone knows—the place you stop for a cold drink, a forgotten ingredient, or a quick treat on the way home. It’s run by Samantha, a second-generation owner who knows her customers by name.
Business is steady, but this quarter has been tough. One employee just left, another is going on maternity leave, and hiring feels overwhelming. The shelves are stocked, but Sam isn’t sure which products actually make money and which are just taking up space. She’d love to run simple seasonal promotions, but marketing always falls to the bottom of the list.
She isn’t in crisis. She’s just stretched thin and ready for more clarity, structure, and support.
Below, explore how Good Apple might support Sam, based on the level of her retainer agreement.
-
We help Sam clarify what matters most each week while she continues running Maple & Main’s day-to-day operations.
Together, we define the hiring needs created by turnover and an upcoming maternity leave, map the roles, outline interview questions, and give her simple onboarding checklists she can confidently use on her own.
We review her sales data at a high level, highlight the strongest and weakest product categories, and suggest small but meaningful adjustments.
We also recommend a lightweight seasonal marketing plan that’s easy for her to execute—simple promotions, refreshed signage, and a few timely customer-facing touches.
At this level, Sam is doing much of the work herself, but she isn’t doing it alone. We guide her decisions, keep her focused on the right priorities, and help her move through the quarter with more structure and less stress.
Our support gives her clarity, direction, and a steady partner she can rely on, without adding a heavy cadence or taking over the business.
-
We work closely with Sam to keep the quarter moving with consistency and accountability.
We build the hiring plan, write job postings, screen applicants, and hand off qualified candidates for her to interview.
We help her set up simple onboarding and training systems so new hires feel supported during their first weeks.
We complete a deeper review of Maple and Main’s product mix by evaluating margins, turns, shrink, and vendor terms. We then help her decide which categories should be expanded, simplified, or removed.
We also design a seasonal marketing campaign with timelines, weekly actions, and clear creative direction so Sam does not need to start from scratch.
At this level, we are sharing the work with Sam. She conducts the interviews and makes the final decisions, but she is no longer carrying the operational load alone. We manage weekly steps, organize tasks, and ensure progress continues even when the store feels busy. Sam receives practical partnership, steady hands-on support, and reliable structure without requiring a fully embedded operating partner.
-
We fully integrate into Sam’s operation and take ownership of the work that drives Maple and Main forward.
We run the entire hiring process including interviews and coordinate onboarding and training that stabilize the store’s staffing.
We lead a complete assessment of her product mix, vendor relationships, store layout, and inventory patterns. We then refine the assortment to improve margins, reduce complexity, and make daily operations smoother.
We handle seasonal marketing from beginning to end, including promotions, messaging, signage, and community outreach. Everything is executed with consistency and follow-through.
Week after week, we manage the store’s priorities, support her team, streamline systems, and strengthen overall performance. At this level, Good Apple serves as an internal operating partner. We take responsibility for hiring, marketing, systems development, and operational improvement while Sam stays focused on leadership, customer relationships, and her personal life. She gains more time, more stability, and a business that feels easier to run. The results are steady, meaningful, and fully supported by our active involvement.

FAQs
How do I know whether I need Guided, Managed, or Embedded?
We help you choose based on your timeline, internal capacity, and immediate priorities. Most clients begin at the Management level because it offers steady partnership without full operational integration. As your needs shift, we can scale support up or down.
Can I switch levels once we begin?
Yes. Your level can be adjusted as your business needs change. We revisit your goals regularly, and if the pace or depth of support needs to shift, we update the engagement so the work stays aligned and effective.
What if I need help with a project?
Projects can be added when needed, especially for time-bound or specialized work. Retainers already include strategic planning, operational support, and multi-domain guidance, but some initiatives require a defined scope and timeline. We will recommend a project only when it clearly benefits the outcome.
Do retainers include Exit Planning or Brokerage?
No. Exit Planning and Brokerage are separate offerings. If you are preparing for a transition or considering a sale or purchase, we can add those services alongside your retainer to support the full process.
How involved will Good Apple be in the day-to-day?
Your level determines the depth of involvement. Guidance offers strategic support, Management adds weekly partnership and hands-on help, and Execution places us inside your operations to lead the work. We help you choose the level that matches your capacity and goals.
What kind of results can I expect from a retainer?
Retainers bring clarity, structure, and consistent progress. Clients often see improvements in hiring, operations, financial reporting, and decision-making. Every level includes a 90-day plan, regular check-ins, and multi-domain support that strengthens the business and reduces overwhelm.
Project vs. Retainer Quick Check
Retainer: Ongoing Partnership
Retainers are best when you want consistent support across multiple areas of the business. We work alongside you on planning, delivery, and decision-making so you are not carrying everything alone.
Retainers are ideal when you want:
Ongoing strategic conversations and accountability
Support across several domains at once (like money, people, marketing)
A 90-day plan and quarterly recalibration, not a one-time push
Help managing priorities, projects, and change over time
A steady partner who learns your business and stays involved
Project: Focused Engagement
Projects are best when you have a clear outcome, a defined scope, and a specific timeline. We step in to design and deliver that piece of work, then you decide what support you need next.
Projects are ideal when you want:
A specific result, such as a launch, a system build, or a strategic plan
A clear beginning and end, with milestones along the way
Intensive work on one area, rather than ongoing support across many
Specialist help that your current team cannot cover
A way to test working together before moving into a retainer
Most clients have both retainer and project-based needs over the full lifecycle of our work together. It’s not uncommon to be working on projects inside of a retainer!
